Etown Defeats York 2-0, Blue Jays Get All-Time Win Number 697
ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Elizabethtown now stands three wins away from the 700 all-time victory mark following a 2-0 home victory over York College (Pa.) at home Saturday. The Blue Jays improve to 9-2-3 overall with the win while York, which was one of only two teams to have beaten Etown last year, dropped to 11-4 overall with the loss.
Chris Boushell (Chambersburg, PA/Chambersburg) scored the opening and game-winning goal when he headed in a ball from Daniel Gring (Sinking Spring, PA/Wilson) at 23:44. Etown added an insurance goal just 33 seconds before the end of the game when Andrew Kummerer (Glenmoore, PA/Coatesville) turned a pass from Owen Friedrich (Westmont, NJ/Haddon Twp.) into a fast break past all of York's defenders and scored.
Edwin Tichenor (Mechanicsburg, PA/Cumberland Valley) made five saves in the Etown net to earn the shutout. as the Blue Jays held a 13-9 advantage in shots and a 5-2 edge in corner kicks.
Elizabethtown will return to action at home Wednesday, October 20 against Commonwealth Conference rival Moravian in a 4:00 p.m. game.
