Etown Downs Albright 4-1

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Elizabethtown improved to 6-2-1 overall and 2-0 in the Commonwealth Conference Tuesday night with a 4-1 home win over Albright College, which dropped to 5-6 overall and 1-1 in the conference with the loss.

Etown went up 1-0 when, 28:40 into the game, a long pass from Jeff Boushell (Chambersburg, PA/Chambersburg) connected with Brian Healy (Newark, DE/A.I. DuPont) in front of the goal. Healy then fired off a cross pass to Steve Petrosky (Manheim, PA/Manheim Central), who netted his first goal of the season. The Blue Jays carried a 2-0 lead as Michael Terry (Beech Creek, PA/Central Mountain) also scored his first goal of the season at 30:30 when he fired a defensive deflection from a previous Etown shot into the goal.

Albright got on the board just before halftime at 41:18. A long cross pass by Joseph Kelly (Bayville, NJ/Central Regional) was nudged into the goal by Steve Moran (Bayville, NJ/Central Regional) to cut Etown’s lead in half.

At 68:57, Etown took a 3-1 lead as Terry scored his second goal of the game, this time off a long pass by Josh Hoffman (Schaefferstown, PA/ELCO). At 78:52, Etown went up 4-1 as first-year student Matt Diller (Chambersburg, PA/ Mercersburg Academy) scored his first collegiate goal off another Healy assist.

First-year student Jeff Mullen (Horsham, PA/Hatboro-Horsham) made his collegiate debut in the Etown goal in the game’s final nine minutes and made the Blue Jays’ only save of the game. Etown out-shot Albright 29-7 over the course of the game. A.J. Fleisher (Kutztown, PA/Kutztown Area) played the first 81 minutes of the game in the Etown net.

The Blue Jays will return to action on the road Saturday, October 1 at Lebanon Valley in a 2:00 p.m. conference game.
