Two Andrew Kummerer Goals Lift Etown to 2-1 Double Overtime Win against Muhlenberg

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Two goals by senior forward Andrew Kummerer (Glenmoore, PA/Coatesville) lifted Elizabethtown to a 2-1 double-overtime victory against Muhlenberg College in a non-conference game Wednesday night. The Blue Jays improved to 8-2-1 overall with the win, while Muhlenberg dropped to 7-3 with the loss.

Muhlenberg out-shot Etown 24-14 over the course of the game, but the teams’ shots on goal were even at 11 apiece. Etown goalie A.J. Fleisher (Kutztown, PA/Kutztown Area) made 10 saves.

Etown’s first goal came 17:46 after the opening whistle when Kummerer scored off a pair of assists by Brian Healy (Newark, DE/A.I. DuPont) and Jeff Boushell (Chambersburg, PA/Chambersburg).

Muhlenberg tied the score at 71:13 when Christopher King (Center Valley, PA/Saucon Valley) scored.

The score remained knotted at 1-1 until 54 seconds were left on the scoreboard in the second and final overtime period. Then, Kummerer scored again off assists by Rick Winstanley (Manchester, UK/St. Gabriel’s) and Brian Raveling (Voorhees, NJ/Eastern Regional).

Etown will return to action on the road Saturday, October 8 at Commonwealth Conference rival Moravian College in a 3:30 p.m. game.
