Elizabethtown Wins Commonwealth Conference Title and NCAA Tournament Bid in 2-0 Conference Championship Road Win over Susquehanna SELINSGROVE, Pa. --- The Elizabethtown College men’s soccer team won its second Commonwealth Conference title and NCAA Division III tournament bid in three years by defeating Susquehanna University 2-0 on the road in the Commonwealth Conference championship game Saturday night. Elizabethtown, which was the third seed in the conference tournament, improves to 11-5-2 overall with the win, while Susquehanna, which was the second seed in the tournament, drops to 10-8-2 overall with the loss. Both of Elizabethtown’s goals came in the first half. Mike McCabe (Milford, PA/Delaware Valley) scored first for Elizabethtown off a Mike Helsel (Palmyra, PA/Palmyra) assist 8:46 into the game. Helsel added a goal of his own off a Josh Hoffman (Schaefferstown, PA/ELCO) assist at 37:40. Elizabethtown and Susquehanna each had 11 shots in the game, and Etown goalie A.J. Fleisher (Kutztown, PA/Kutztown Area) made three saves to preserve the shutout. After the game, Fleisher was named the Most Valuable Player of the Commonwealth Conference playoffs.
