ELIZABETHTOWN COLLEGE MEN'S SOCCER Friday, September 28, 2007 Blue Jays Post Ninth Straight Home Win With 5-0 Shutout Victory Over Albright ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Senior George Severini (Havertown, PA/Haverford) scored a pair of second-half goals and junior Matt Diller (Chambersburg, PA/Mercersburg Academy) added a goal and an assist as Elizabethtown College blanked Albright College 5-0 in Commonwealth Conference men's soccer action at Ira R. Herr Field on Friday night. Junior Wes Bunting (Lancaster, PA/McCaskey) and first-year student Taylor Helsel (Glen Rock, PA/Susquehannock) also scored for the Blue Jays (7-2-0 overall, 1-0-0 Commonwealth), who won their sixth straight home match this season and ninth consecutive overall dating to last season. Elizabethtown took a 1-0 lead 11 minutes into the first half as Helsel took a short pass from Diller and scored his first goal of the season, with senior Zach Galbraith (Mechanicsburg, PA/Cumberland Valley) also assisting. The Blue Jays pushed the lead to 2-0 at the 16-minute mark when Bunting headed home a cross by senior Steve Petrosky (Manheim, PA/Manheim Central), and took the lead to halftime. In the second half, Severini scored at 47:49 on a pass by first-year student Adam Liddle (Wilmington, DE/Salesianum School), and added his team-high seventh goal of the year at 52:26 on a penalty kick. The Blue Jays capped the scoring with 20:26 remaining as Diller scored his sixth goal of the season after receiving a pass from first-year student Andrew Filewicz (Wenonah, NJ/Northeast Catholic) following a long run. Elizabethtown finished with a 21-3 edge in shots and a 14-2 advantage in corner kicks over the Lions (3-4-2 overall, 0-1-0 Commonwealth). Junior Jeff Mullen (Horsham, PA/Hatboro-Horsham) started in goal for the Blue Jays and made one save over 81 minutes before yielding to junior Greg Snow (Avon, CT/Suffield Academy), who did not face any shots over the final nine minutes.
