Etown Defeats Goucher 5-2 for Second Win of Season

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Elizabethtown defeated Goucher College 5-2 in a non-conference match at home Sunday to improve to 2-10 overall. Goucher dropped to 2-7 with the loss.

Etown clinched the doubles point at the match’s outset by sweeping all three contests. Per Roxendal (Zurich, Switzerland/Literargymnsium Ramibuhl) and Hiep Pham (Harrisburg, PA/C.D. East) won 8-3 at number one doubles. Jeff Kirkhoff (Duncannon, PA) and Zach Atkinson (Willow Street, PA) won 8-0 at number two doubles, and Taylor Butch (Great Falls, VA/Flint Hill School) and Ryan Zimmerman (Duncannon, PA/Susquenita) won 8-2 at number three doubles.

The Blue Jays also took four of the six singles matches. Butch won 6-1, 6-0 at number six, and Pham won 6-1, 6-1 at number two. Nick Ziobrowski (Chambersburg, PA) won 6-2, 6-3 at number four. At number one, Roxendal ground out a 6-7 (6-8), 6-2, (10-4) come-from-behind win.

Elizabethtown will return to action on the road Tuesday, April 4 against Commonwealth Conference rival Juniata College in a 3:30 p.m. match.
