Elizabethtown Defeats Goucher 6-3 for Second Consecutive Win

BALTIMORE, Md. --- Elizabethtown earned its second consecutive win Thursday, defeating Goucher College on the road 6-3 to improve to 2-5 overall. Goucher drops to 1-3 with the loss.

The Blue Jays jumped out to a 2-1 lead in the doubles matches, as first-year students Ryan Knarr (Robesonia, PA/Conrad Weiser) and Brok Walker (Red Lion, PA/Red Lion) teamed up to win 8-4 at second doubles, and as sophomore Zach Atkinson (Willow Street, PA/Lampeter-Strasburg) and junior James Dombach (Lancaster, PA/Manheim Township) won 8-3 at third doubles.

Elizabethtown clinched the win by taking four of the six singles matches. At second singles, Knarr won 6-1, 6-2. Walker won 6-2, 6-2 at three singles. Bastiaan Dessing (The Hague, The Netherlands/Sorghvbil Gymnasium) earned his first singles win for Etown with a 6-2, 6-0 victory at number five. Atkinson won a 6-0, 6-1 blowout at number six for the Blue Jays.
