Elizabethtown Defeats Wilkes 8-1

EDWARDSVILLE, Pa. --- Elizabethtown College improved to 5-6 overall with an 8-1 non-conference road win over Wilkes University Friday. The visiting Blue Jays won every match except for fourth singles. Wilkes dropped to 1-2 overall with the loss. The match was the make-up of a previously snowed out contest.

In doubles, Maarten Albers (Oisterwijk, The Netherlands/Theresialyceum) and Brok Walker (Red Lion, PA/Red Lion) one 8-4 at number one. Ryan Knarr (Robesonia, PA/Conrad Weiser) and Andrew Voshell (Chester Heights, PA/Garnet Valley) won 8-5 at number two, and Zach Atkinson (Willow Street, PA/Lampeter-Strasburg) and James Dombach (Lancaster, PA/Manheim Township) won 8-5 at number three.

Winning singles matches for Etown included Albers, 6-3, 6-4 at one, Knarr, 6-0, 6-0 at two, Walker, 6-2, 6-3 at three, Voshell, 6-1, 6-0 at five, and Atkinson, 6-4, 6-1 at six.

Elizabethtown will return to action Saturday, March 31 when it hosts Albright College in a 1:30 p.m. Commonwealth Conference match.
