Elizabethtown Edges Muhlenberg 5-4

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- A doubles sweep helped propel Elizabethtown College to a 5-4 victory over Muhlenberg College in non-conference men's tennis action on Tuesday afternoon.

Picking up singles wins for the Blue Jays (8-6 overall) were junior Jeff Kirkhoff (Duncannon, PA/Susquenita), who downed Brian Wernick 6-3, 6-2 at second singles, and senior Andrew Voshell (Chester Heights, PA/Garnet Valley) who won 6-3, 6-2 over Jonathan Farber at third singles.

In doubles, Kirkhoff and Voshell defeated Wernick and Farber 8-5 at flight one, sophomore Brok Walker (Red Lion, PA/Red Lion) and first-year student Bryan Metz (Hummelstown, PA/Lower Dauphin) won 8-5 at flight two over Mark Apostolos and Wayne Mitchell, and senior Jim Dombach (Lancaster, PA/Manheim Township) teamed with sophomore Mike Steiner (Greensburg, PA/Greater Latrobe) for an 8-6 win over Jamie Goldman and Tim Ness at flight three.
