ELIZABETHTOWN COLLEGE MEN'S TENNIS Blue Jays Blank DeSales 9-0 in Regular-Season Finale CENTER VALLEY, Pa. --- The Elizabethtown College men's tennis team tuned up for the Middle Atlantic Conference singles and doubles championships with a 9-0 win at DeSales University in their final regular-season match on Thursday afternoon. The Blue Jays (9-6 overall) did not drop a set in the victory over the Bulldogs (2-11 overall), losing a total of six games at the first four singles flights combined. Sophomore Brok Walker (Red Lion, PA/Red Lion) defeated Jon Kindred 6-1, 6-0 at first singles, first-year student Bryan Metz (Hummelstown, PA/Lower Dauphin) moved up to second singles and won 6-0, 6-1 over Dan Bullen, and sophomore Brandon Stolar (Millville, NJ/Millville) was a 6-1, 6-3 winner at third singles over Joe Sulpizio. At fourth singles, first-year student Stijn van Esveld (Bilthoven, The Netherlands) was a 6-0, 6-0 winner over Anthony Guerriero, first-year student Shawn Cotton (Bernardsville, NJ/Bernards) downed Seth Conklin 6-3, 6-2 at fifth singles, and sophomore Mike Steiner (Greensburg, PA/Greater Latrobe) won 6-4, 6-4 at sixth singles over Charles Marriner. Picking up singles wins for the Blue Jays (8-6 overall) were junior Jeff Kirkhoff (Duncannon, PA/Susquenita), who downed Brian Wernick 6-3, 6-2 at second singles, and senior Andrew Voshell (Chester Heights, PA/Garnet Valley) who won 6-3, 6-2 over Jonathan Farber at third singles. In doubles, junior Jeff Kirkhoff (Duncannon, PA/Susquenita) and senior Andrew Voshell (Chester Heights, PA/Garnet Valley) defeated Kindred and Bullen 8-2 at flight one, Walker and Metz downed Sulpizio and Guerriero 8-4 at flight two, and senior Jim Dombach (Lancaster, PA/Manheim Township) and Steiner won 8-0 over Conklin and Marriner at flight three.
