Etown Defeats McDaniel, 6-1, Improves to 5-2 in 2003

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Elizabethtown improved to 5-2 overall in 2003 with a 6-1 home win over McDaniel Thursday.

The Blue Jays won two of the three doubles matches to capture the doubles point, and followed that success by winning five of the six singles matches. At number five singles, Maurits Dekker (The Hague, The Netherlands/Vrizjinnig Christelijk Lyceum) surrendered just two games to his opponent as he won 6-0, 6-2.

Josh Miller (Indiana, PA/Indiana), Greg Voshell (Chester Heights, PA/Garnet Valley) and Antonio Oliveira (Lancaster, PA/Lancaster Country Day) all allowed their opponents to win just three games. Miller won 6-0, 6-3 at number four, Voshell won 6-1, 6-2 at number one, and Oliveira won 6-1, 6-2 at number six. Sude Dhillon (Yardley, PA/The George School) won 6-4, 6-1 at number two singles for Etown.

Also, the Etown doubles team of Miller and Dekker won an 8-0 shutout at number three.

Etown will return to action on the road Saturday, March 29 against Susquehanna in a Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth League match at 1:00 p.m.
