Elizabethtown College Men's Track and Field Elizabethtown Shares MAC Indoor Track and Field Title With Messiah, Winning Sixth Straight Crown SELINSGROVE, Pa. --- The Elizabethtown College men's indoor track and field team won its sixth straight Middle Atlantic Conference championship on Saturday afternoon, sharing the title with Messiah College as both schools finished with 135 points. The Blue Jays trailed the Falcons by two points heading into the 4x400-meter relay, the final event of the day, but senior Drew Graybeal (Woodbine, MD/Glenelg) ran down Messiah's anchor runner with 300 meters to go to give Elizabethtown the race win in 3:26.44, with the Falcons in second at 3:26.80, to force the deadlock. Graybeal was named MAC Track Athlete of the Year after winning the 400 meters with an NCAA Division III provisional qualifying time of 49.44 seconds, and winning the 800 meters with a time of 1:57.15. Head coach Chris Straub also took home honors as he was recognized by his peers as MAC Coach of the Year for leading the Blue Jays to a share of the team championship. Sophomore A.J. Farris (Edgewood, MD/Joppatowne) picked up a win in the 55 meters in 6.55 seconds while senior Kevin Clark (Horsham, PA/Hatboro-Horsham) won the 55-meter hurdles with a time of 7.95 seconds. Both times were the second-best in program history. Running in the winning 4x400-meter relay team were sophomore Kyle Grimm (Pottstown, PA/Pottsgrove), junior Jason Mastroianni (Macungie, PA/Emmaus), Clark and Graybeal. The distance medley relay group of senior Dave Bresnahan (Cinnaminson, NJ/Cinnaminson), junior James Munnelly (Doylestown, PA/Central Bucks East), junior Dylan Rulander (Russell, PA/Eisenhower) and senior Ryan St. Clair (Chambersburg, PA/Chambersburg) picked up a victory with a time of 10:55.36. Farris added a second-place finish in the 200 meters in 23.05 seconds, the fourth-best time in school history, while Clark took third in 23.09 seconds for the fifth-best time in program history. Clark also finished second in the 55 meters in 6.63 seconds, the fourth-best time in program history, and was fourth in the long jump at 21 feet, 2 3/4 inches. In the mile, Rulander finished second in 1:57.35 for the fourth-best time in school history, followed by Munnelly in sixth place at 1:58.84 for the sixth-best time in program history. The Blue Jays scored three runners in the 5000 meters, as first-year student Chris Heisey (Middletown, PA/Middletown) was second in 15:56.34, Bresnahan finished in third at 16:01.00 and junior Jeremy Matula (Bath, PA/Northampton) was fifth at 16:20.50. Sophomore Elton Dos Santos (Philadelphia, PA/Penn Charter) placed fourth in the 55 hurdles at 8.60 seconds, and Grimm finished fourth in the 400 meters at 52.03 seconds to claim sixth place on the school's all-time list. In other relays, the 4x200 team of sophomore Mike Mauger (Pottstown, PA/The Hill School), Farris, Grimm and Clark finished second in 1:33.11 for the fifth-best time in program history, while the 4x800-meter relay team of Rulander, Munnelly, junior Phil Alder (Pottstown, PA/Pottsgrove) and St. Clair was second in 8:11.49 to place seventh on the all-time program list.
