Elizabethtown College Men's Track and Field Blue Jays Open Outdoor Track Season at Susquehanna SELINSGROVE, Pa. --- The Elizabethtown College men's track and field team kicked off its 2008 outdoor schedule by competing in the non-scoring Jim Taylor Invitational at Susquehanna University on Saturday. First-year student Chris Heisey (Middletown, PA/Middletown) won the 10,000 meters with a time of 32:48.56, while sophomore A.J. Farris (Edgewood, MD/Joppatowne) won the 200 meters in 22.44 seconds, the fifth-best time in program history, and was second in the 100 meters in 11.25 seconds. Senior Drew Graybeal (Woodbine, MD/Glenelg) finished second in the 800 meters at 1:54.27, and sophomore Myles Lund (Berwyn, PA/Conestoga) took second in the 5,000 meters with a personal-record time of 15:41.82. Sophomore Mike Mauger (Pottstown, PA/The Hill School) finished third in the 100 meters at 11.61 seconds and was fourth in the 200 meters (23.46 seconds), and junior Jason Mastroianni (Macungie, PA/Emmaus) finished fourth in the 400 meters at 54.59 seconds. Junior Dylan Rulander (Russell, PA/Eisenhower) placed second in the 1500 meters (4:07.68) while junior James Munnelly (Doylestown, PA/Central Bucks East) was fourth in a time of 4:11.28. In addition to Heisey's win in the 10,000 meters, junior Jeremy Matula (Bath, PA/Northampton) was third in 32:54.44, first-year student Rich Greco (Holmdel, NJ/Holmdel) finished fourth in 34:01.15 and first-year student Adam Derkacz (Huguenot, NY/Port Jervis) was eighth in 35:15.46. All four Blue Jay runners set personal records in the 10,000, as Heisey split 16:41 and 16:07, Matula posted splits of 16:41 and 16:13, Greco was timed in 17:05 and 16:56 and Derkacz ran 5,000-meter splits of 18:00 and 17:15. In relays, the 4x100 team took first in 43.93 seconds and the 4x400 quartet also finished first in a time of 3:25.05. In field events, sophomore Tim Katzaman (Wyomissing, PA/Wyomissing) finished sixth in the hammer throw with a new school record of 119 feet, 6 inches, while senior Bryan Marison (Birdsboro, PA/Daniel Boone) was seventh at 113 feet, 7 inches. Senior Shawn Strauss (Womelsdorf, PA/Conrad Weiser) was fifth in the shot put (36 feet, 2 1/4 inches) and sophomore Mike Torre (Medford, NJ/Shawnee) finished sixth in the javelin throw at 161 feet, 11 inches.
