Blue Jays Finish Fourth at Messiah Invitational

GRANTHAM, Pa. --- The Elizabethtown College men's track and field team finished fourth out of 19 teams at the Messiah College Invitational this weekend, scoring 62.5 points.

Senior Kevin Clark (Horsham, PA/Hatboro-Horsham) earned an NCAA Division III automatic qualifying mark in the decathlon by scoring a school-record 6,648 points. Among his event wins was the pole vault, which he won with an NCAA provisional qualifying height of 4.95 meters (16 feet, 2 3/4 inches).

Sophomore A.J. Farris (Edgewood, MD/Joppatowne) was second in the 100 meters in 10.90 seconds, and placed fourth in the 200 meters with a time of 22.02 seconds that is the second-best in program history.

Sophomore Mike Mauger (Pottstown, PA/The Hill School) was fifth in the 100 meters (11.21 seconds) and sophomore Elton Dos Santos (Philadelphia, PA/Penn Charter) took fourth in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 16.33 seconds.

First-year student Rich Greco (Holmdel, NJ/Holmdel) placed fourth in the 5,000 meters (16:40.74) and first-year student Matt Myers (Pennsburg, PA/Upper Perkiomen) finished fifth in the steeplechase (10:48.53).

In the 4x100 meters, the Blue Jay team of Farris, junior Jason Mastroianni (Macungie, PA/Emmaus), Mauger and sophomore Wyatt Eaton (York, PA/Eastern York) took second with a time of 42.99 seconds.

In field events, sophomore Tim Katzaman (Wyomissing, PA/Wyomissing) broke his own school record and took fourth in the hammer throw with a mark of 40.32 meters (132 feet, 3 inches), and senior Jason Yurchak (Franklinville, NJ/Delsea Regional) finished third in the pole vault with a mark of 3.95 meters (13 feet) that ranks fifth in school history.

Bridgewater College won the team title with 151 points, followed by host Messiah in second (143 points) and Gettysburg College (119.5 points).
