Blue Jays In Third Place After Day Two of MAC Track and Field Championships

CHESTER, Pa. --- The Elizabethtown College men's track and field team is in third place after two days of the Middle Atlantic Conference Championships at Widener University.

The Blue Jays have amassed 53 points entering Saturday's final day of competition, trailing host Widener (60) and second-place Messiah College (54.5 points).

In the 100 meters, three Blue Jays have qualified for the finals, as sophomore A.J. Farris (Edgewood, MD/Joppatowne) posted the best mark in preliminaries at 11.02 seconds. He will be joined in the finals by senior Kevin Clark (Horsham, PA/Hatboro-Horsham) (11.15 seconds) and sophomore Mike Mauger (Pottstown, PA/The Hill School) (11.37 seconds).

In the 200 meters, Mauger advanced to the finals with a time of 22.87 seconds, along with sophomore Wyatt Eaton (York, PA/Eastern York) who ran 23.00 seconds to win his heat.

Senior Drew Graybeal (Woodbine, MD/Glenelg) qualified for the finals in both the 400 meters (49.97 seconds) and the 800 meters (1:56.08), while junior Dylan Rulander (Russell, PA/Eisenhower) (1:55.59) and junior James Munnelly (Doylestown, PA/Central Bucks East) (1:57.88) also qualified for finals in the 800.

In completed events, senior Ryan St. Clair (Chambersburg, PA/Chambersburg) finished second in the steeplechase with a time of 9:58.40, while sophomore Myles Lund (Berwyn, PA/Conestoga) took fifth in 10:10.51.

Clark placed third in the high jump with a mark of 5 feet, 11 1/2 inches, and in the decathlon junior Phil Alder (Pottstown, PA/Pottsgrove) was third with 5360 points and senior George Nicholas (Marietta, PA/Donegal) finished eighth with 3942 points.

On Thursday, the Blue Jays placed four runners among the top five finishers in the 10,000 meters, as senior Dave Bresnahan (Cinnaminson, NJ/Cinnaminson) won with a time of 32:41.00, with first-year student Chris Heisey (Middletown, PA/Middletown) placing second in 32:41.81, junior Jeremy Matula (Bath, PA/Northampton) in third place at 32:59.46 and first-year student Rich Greco (Holmdel, NJ/Holmdel) finishing fifth in 33:19.99.
