Erin Fisher Takes All-America Honors at NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships

OSHKOSH, Wisc. --- Elizabethtown College senior Erin Fisher (McEwensville, PA/Warrior Run) earned All-America honors with a seventh-place finish in the women's 10,000-meter run at the NCAA Division III Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championships at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh on Thursday evening.

Fisher (left) crossed the finish line in a career-best time of 36:00.52 to become the third Blue Jay to be named All-America in women's track and field, joining Melissa St. Clair '05 (four times) and Carrie Kerna '04 (three times).

"I couldn't be happier with Erin's progress throughout the season," said head coach Chris Straub. "She got a late start to the outdoor season due to injury, but definitely peaked at the right time."

After passing through the first 5,000 meters in a time of 18:03, Fisher was among a pack of 10 runners within two seconds of the lead with one mile (1,600 meters) to go. Pushing the pace, she moved toward the front of the pack and settled into a battle for sixth place over the final 600 meters.

Fisher, who earned All-America honors in cross country with a 15th-place finish at the 2007 NCAA Division III championships, will compete in the final race of her career on Saturday when she runs in the 5,000 meters.

In other women's action, junior Tiffany Kulp (Perkasie, PA/Pennridge) finished 17th in the 1,500 meters with a time of 4:40.48.

On the men's side, senior Kevin Clark (Horsham, PA/Hatboro-Horsham) is in seventh place in the decathlon after amassing 3,432 points on the first day of the two-day event.

His highest-scoring event was the 400 meters, when he took fourth with a career-best time of 49.98 seconds. He also finished second in the 100 meters (11.21 seconds, 814 points) and was fifth in the long jump (21 feet, 5 1/2 inches, 707 points).

Clark also competed in the pole vault, but the four-time All-American was unable to clear the bar in three attempts after wrapping up action in the decathlon just moments earlier.

On Friday, Clark will see action in the final five events of the decathlon (110 hurdles, discus, pole vault, javelin and 1,500 meters) beginning at 2:00, while senior Drew Graybeal (Woodbine, MD/Glenelg) will participate in the 800-meter trials at 7:35 p.m.
