STATE COLLEGE, Pa. --- Elizabethtown's cross country teams got a taste of Division I and Division II competition Saturday at the Penn State Spiked Shoe Invitational while racing against D-I powerhouses like 14th-ranked University of Michigan, 10th-ranked James Madison University and 19th-ranked Georgetown.

The men's team finished 14th out of 22 teams, defeating local rival Dickinson for the first time in recent memory and leaving MAC Commonwealth Conference comrades Susquehanna and Juniata in the dust.

Larry Bullock (Rome, PA/Northeast Bedford) led the way for the Blue Jay men, finishing 95th in a field of 257 with a time of 28:07.13.  Christian Hoch (Dillsburg, PA/Northern) was the next Blue Jay to cross the line, finishing 99th in 28:09.78.  The Blue Jays' top five finishers all managed to finish within a 34 second period on the 5.2 mile course.

The Blue Jays will hit the ground running next in the 'Battle for the Buggy' meet to be held Tuesday at Elizabethtown.  This meet is the first annual contest between Elizabethtown, Millersville, and Franklin and Marshall to determine who reigns supreme in collegiate cross country in Lancaster County.  Start time for the men's race is 5:00 p.m. and the women's race begins at 5:30 p.m.
