Elizabethtown College Men's Cross Country:
1999 Season in Review

The Elizabethtown cross country team emerged as a powerful force to be reckoned with in both the Middle Atlantic Conference and the Mideast Region in 1999.

A total of seven runners — Dave Berdan '03, Larry Bullock '00, Jeff Harmon '01, Christian Hoch '03, Frank Rivera '03, Dustin Scott '03 and Mike Zwatty '03 — finished in the top twenty to earn All-Conference honors at the MAC Championships October 30. Topping it all off, the men’s team was crowned MAC Champion for the first time since 1965, ending a 34 year drought.

Amazingly, the best was yet to come. At the NCAA Mideast Regional meet hosted by Frostburg St. November 13, Bullock, Harmon, Hoch, Rivera and Zwatty eared All-Region honors. By finishing second out of 30 teams, Etown earned one of two team berths to the NCAA Division III National Championship meet held November 20 at the University of Wisconsin–Oshkosh. In their first ever Division III Championship meet appearance and their first national championship meet appearance since 1966, the Blue Jays placed 24th.
