Elizabethtown College Men's Cross Country:
2001 Season in Review

Elizabethtown finished 2001 with its best season to date. The team won its third consecutive Middle Atlantic Conference Championship with its lowest-ever point total at the MAC meet, finished second in the region with its lowest-ever point total at the Mideast Regional meet, and finished 14th in the nation at the NCAA Division III national championship meet, its highest finish ever.

It was a year for individual firsts as well, as Dustin Scott '03 became the first Etown cross country All-American by finishing 14th out of 211 runners at the national meet, and Dave Berdan '03 became the first individual MAC champion from Elizabethtown by finishing first at the MAC meet. Berdan was also named the MAC Runner of the Year for the first time.

Earning All-MAC honors were Berdan, Scott, Josh Lyman '04, Steve Sanko '05, Mike Zwatty '03, José Miranda '05, and Matt Rockwell '05.

Also, Scott, Berdan, Zwatty, Lyman, and Sanko were all named to the All-Mideast Region team. Also, head coach Chris Straub was named the MAC Coach of the Year for the second consecutive year.
