ELIZABETHTOWN COLLEGE MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY Etown Finishes Seventh Overall, First Among Division III Teams, at Penn State Spiked Shoe Invitational STATE COLLEGE, Pa. --- Elizabethtown's men's and women's cross country teams opened their 2002 seasons at the Penn State Spiked Shoe Invitational Saturday. Despite choosing not to run any of its seniors, and, with them, many of its top runners, the Etown men's team finished tied for seventh out of 20 teams and tied for first with Allegheny among all NCAA Division III teams at the meet with 209 points. The top runner for the Etown men was sophomore Matt Rockwell (Plymouth, NH/Plymouth Regional) in 27:17 for a 22nd place finish out of 227 runners. He was the third Division III runner to cross the finish line. Junior Josh Lyman (Parkside, PA/Sun Valley) was Etown's second finisher, coming in 36th place in 27:41. Etown will return to action at the Lebanon Valley College Invitational Saturday, September 14. At State College, Pa. Etown individual finishers (227 total runners): |
