ELIZABETHTOWN COLLEGE MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY Etown Places Fourth at Penn State Spiked Shoe Invitational STATE COLLEGE, Pa. --- Elizabethtown placed fourth out of 15 teams at the Penn State Spiked Shoe Invitational Saturday with a score of 138 points. The only teams that outraced Etown were Penn State, which won the meet, Youngstown State and Duquesne. Steve Sanko (Hazleton, PA/Bishop Hafey) was Etown's top finisher, placing sixth in 26:45 over the 5.2 mile course with a 184-runner field. Matt Rockwell (Plymouth, NH/Plymouth Regional) finished 17th in 27:08 as the Blue Jays' number two runner. Greg Wetzel (Warrington, PA/Central Bucks East) was Etown's number three in 27th place in 27:23, and Sean Mulcahy (Towanda, PA/Towanda) finished in 43rd place in 27:39. The Blue Jays, while they won the trophy for the Open Division consisting of all non-NCAA Division I teams, were somewhat disappointed with their performance overall. Etown had an 82 second spread between its number one and number five times, and the Blue Jays' goal is to achieve a 50 second spread on a regular basis. Elizabethtown will return to action as the host of the Elizabethtown Invitational Saturday, September 20, which will be held at Lancaster County Central Park. The men's race begins at noon, while the women's race begins at 11:30 a.m. Penn State Spiked Shoe Invitational:
