Elizabethtown Defeats Dickinson & Messiah in Capital City Classic

GRANTHAM, Pa. --- The Elizabethtown College men’s cross country team defeated Dickinson College and Messiah College in the Capital City Classic, hosted by Messiah, Friday. The Blue Jays beat Dickinson 15-43 and defeated Messiah 18-45. Dickinson also defeated Messiah 24-31.

Patrick Donovan '07 was the race's top finisher.

The overall winner of the three-team race was Elizabethtown senior Patrick Donovan (South Pasadena, CA/St. Francis), who covered the 5000m course in 16:36. The overall runner-up was Etown junior Ryan St. Clair (Chambersburg, PA/Chambersburg Area), who was one second behind in 16:37.

Four other Elizabethtown runners placed in the top ten. Sophomore Brandon Bear (York, PA/Eastern York) was fourth overall in 16:49. Senior Jason Theobald (Honesdale, PA/Honesdale) was fifth in 16:51, and seniors Dave Bresnahan (Cinnaminson, NJ/Cinnaminson) and David Cohen (Allentown, PA/William Allen) were sixth and ninth, respectively, in 16:56 and 17:07.
