Elizabethtown College Senior Patrick Donovan Finishes 95th at NCAA Division III Championship Meet

WILMINGTON, O. --- Elizabethtown Collegesenior Patrick Donovan (South Pasadena, CA/St. Francis) wrapped up his collegiate cross country career Saturday by becoming the eighth Etown runner to place in the top 100 at an NCAA championship meet in the history of the program. The 2006 NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships were hosted by Wilmington College (O.).

Donovan, who competed as an individual in the race, finished 95th out of 279 runners. He covered the soaked and muddy 8000m course in 28:29. The other Elizabethtown runners to place in the top 100 at the NCAA Division III national championships were Dave Berdan ’04 in 2000 (92nd), 2001 (47th) and 2002 (44th), Dustin Scott ’03 in 2001 (14th), Josh Lyman ’03 in 2001 (98th), Steve Sanko ’05 in 2002 (75th), 2003 (90th) and 2004 (27th), Jose Miranda ’05 in 2004 (31st), and Greg Wetzel ’06 in 2004 (99th). In the NCAA College Division Championships in 1965, Ted Bond '67 placed 70th, and he finished 59th in the 1966 College Division Championships.

Calvin College won the 2006 national team title.
