Elizabethtown Takes Third at MAC Men's Cross Country Championships

DOYLESTOWN, Pa. --- The Elizabethtown College men's cross country team saw its run of eight straight Middle Atlantic Conference team championships come to an end as the Blue Jays finished third in a field of 10 schools at the MAC meet on the campus of Delaware Valley College on Saturday.

DeSales University placed all five of its scorers in the top 15 to earn the team crown with 38 points, followed by Messiah College (52) and the Blue Jays (55).

Elizabethtown had three runners earn first-team All-Conference recognition by finishing in the top 10, as junior Scott Derkacz (Huguenot, NY/Port Jervis) was seventh in 28:14.50, senior Ryan St. Clair (Chambersburg, PA/Chambersburg) finished eighth in 28:15.54 and sophomore Myles Lund (Berwyn, PA/Conestoga) was ninth in 28:25.97.

Senior Drew Graybeal (Woodbine, MD/Glenelg) was 12th in 28:37.84 and junior Dylan Rulander (Russell, PA/Eisenhower) was the fifth and final scoring run for Elizabethtown as he took 19th in 28:57.17.

Joining Graybeal and Rulander as second-team All-Conference runners was first-year student Chris Heisey (Middletown, PA/Middletown), was was 20th in 29:01.24.

Junior Jeremy Matula (Bath, PA/Northampton) finished 25th in 29:18.81, junior Evan Metz (Doylestown, PA/Central Bucks East) was 26th in 29:22.82, first-year student Rich Greco (Holmdel, NJ/Holmdel) placed 29th in 29:38.09, first-year student Matt Myers (Pennsburg, PA/Upper Perkiomen) was 38th in 30:05.61, first-year student Adam Derkacz (Huguenot, NY/Port Jervis) finished 44th in 30:31.81 and junior James Munnelly (Doylestown, PA/Central Bucks East) was 52nd in 31:05.20.

Messiah's Francis Eanes was the individual race winner with a time of 27:04.36, followed by a trio of DeSales runners in John Nastus (27:20.83), Andrew Ferretti (28:01.70) and Adam Troxel (28:09.88).
