FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Etown's Ryan Bowe Named Commonwealth Conference Baseball Pitcher of the Week ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Elizabethtown College senior Ryan Bowe (Quarryville, PA/Solanco) has been named the Commonwealth Conference baseball Pitcher of the Week for the week ending April 14. Bowe stopped the bleeding in a 9-5 Elizabethtown loss to Albright last Tuesday, coming in during the middle of the seventh inning in relief and pitching the final three innings. He allowed just one earned run after Albright scored three runs to start the seventh inning and tallied four more runs in the first six innings. He spread four hits over those three innings and struck out one. Bowe then started in Friday's 4-1 victory over Susquehanna and went seven innings, allowing just one run on four hits and striking out five. For the week, he had a 1.20 ERA, allowed two earned runs and three total runs in 10 innings, gave up four hits, struck out seven, and walked none while going 1-0. Thus far in 2002, Bowe is 5-2 with a 3.86 earned run average, the lowest ERA of any pitcher on the team who has worked 15 or more innings. He leads the team in innings pitched (60.2), complete games (5), strikeouts (27) and shutouts (1), in addition to wins. He has given up 61 hits and walked just 11 batters this season. The Elizabethtown College baseball team is currently 11-18 overall and 7-8 in the Commonwealth Conference. |
