ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Elizabethtown College senior second baseman Kevin Bonner (Pitman, NJ/Pitman) has been named to the 2002 Verizon/CoSIDA Academic All-America® All-District II College Division Baseball First Team, the first time in his career he has received the honor. Because he is a member of the First Team, Bonner is now on the national ballot for the Verizon/CoSIDA Academic All-America® College Division Baseball Team, to be announced Tuesday, June 4.

He had a breakthrough year at the plate in 2002, hitting a career-best .379 on 55 hits, tying him for fourth place all-time at Etown for most hits in a season. He finished second on the team with nine stolen bases and 31 runs scored, and he hit six doubles and drove in 18 runs in 39 games played.

Bonner was also recently named a first team Commonwealth Conference all-star for the first time in his career. He has been a member of the Middle Atlantic Conferences' All-Academic Team each of the previous two seasons.

Eleven players were named to the District II First Team, and eleven more were named to the District II Second Team.
