Sean Thomson and Chris McCrea First Etown Men's Lacrosse Players to Earn MAC All-Star Honors; Thomson Named MAC Rookie of the Year

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Elizabethtown College freshmen Sean Thomson (Malvern, PA/Great Valley) and Chris McCrea (Broomall, PA/Marple Newtown) have been named Middle Atlantic Conference second team men's lacrosse all-stars, making them the first Etown players ever to receive the honor. Also, Thomson was named the conference's Rookie of the Year.

Thomson, an attacker and midfielder, led Etown in all offensive categories in 2002, compiling 40 goals and 24 assists for 64 points in 14 games. He also led the team with 90 ground balls. Over the course of the season, Thomson was named the MAC Player of the Week once and the MAC Rookie of the Week once.

McCrea, a defender, scored one goal and scooped up 48 ground balls while playing in all 14 of Etown's games. He helped spearhead a Blue Jay defense that allowed 10 or fewer goals in seven of the team's games in 2002.

The Elizabethtown College men's lacrosse team went 5-9 overall and 4-5 in the MAC in 2002. It was the team's inaugural season.
