FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Etown Sophomore Lisa Marquette Named Commonwealth Conference Field Hockey Player of the Week ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- For the second week in a row, a student from Elizabethtown College has been named the Commonwealth Conference field hockey Player of the Week. This time, sophomore goaltender Lisa Marquette (Lebanon, PA/Cedar Crest) has received the honor. Marquette enabled Elizabethtown to upset Messiah, ranked fourth in the nation last week and the NCAA Division III national runner up last year, in a 1-0 victory at home October 1. Marquette made 16 saves to preserve the Blue Jays' slim lead as Messiah actually out-shot Etown, 29-8. In Elizabethtown's 4-0 win over Albright Saturday, Marquette made nine saves to pick up her third consecutive shutout and her fourth whitewash of the season. She has now played 228 minutes since the last time she allowed a goal September 24 in a 2-1 win over Scranton. Thus far this season, Marquette has allowed 12 goals in 651 minutes of work over nine games for a 1.29 goals against average. She has made 88 saves and has a .880 save percentage. The Elizabethtown College field hockey team is currently 7-2 overall and 3-0 in the Commonwealth Conference. The Blue Jays are riding a four game winning streak, which they will look to extend Wednesday in a 4:30 p.m. game at home against Dickinson. |
