Elizabethtown Junior Megan Halladay Named to Verizon/CoSIDA Academic All-District II College Division Women's Soccer Team

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Elizabethtown College junior sweeper Megan Halladay (Wallingford, PA/Strath Haven) has been named to the Verizon/CoSIDA Academic All-District II College Division Women's Soccer Team for the second consecutive year. Last year, Halladay made the District II second team. This year, she is a member of the District II first team, meaning that she will advance to the ballot for the national College Division Academic All-America Team, to be announced Tuesday, November 26.

Halladay, who is majoring in business marketing at Elizabethtown College, is one of only three juniors on the District II first team this year. The other eight honorees are all seniors. She started all 20 games for the Blue Jays this year and scored four goals for a total of eight points. Over the course of her career, she has amassed 10 goals and one assist for 21 points.

In addition to making the Academic All-District II second team last year, Halladay was also a third team All-Mid-Atlantic Region honoree, a first team Commonwealth Conference All-Star, and a Middle Atlantic Conferences' Academic Honor Roll member in 2001. As a freshman in 2000, she was a second team Commonwealth Conference All-Star. She is a 2000 alumna of Strath Haven High School.

The Elizabethtown College women's soccer team completed the 2002 season with a 9-10-1 overall record. The Blue Jays reached the semifinals of the Commonwealth Conference playoffs.

The District II College Division in the Academic All-America program consists of all non-NCAA Division I colleges and universities in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware, West Virginia and the District of Columbia.

The members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) by districts select the Verizon Academic All-District Team, and the 11 first team selections in each district now move onto the national ballot for Verizon/CoSIDA Academic All-America honors.

To be nominated for the Verizon Academic All-America program, a student-athlete must be at leas a sophomore with a 3.2 or higher cumulative grade-point average and be a starter or significant reserve.
