FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Elizabethtown Seniors Brandy Espenshade and Mindy Nace on All-Region Field Hockey Team ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- The National Field Hockey Coaches' Association (NFHCA) has named a pair of Elizabethtown College senior forwards, Brandy Espenshade (Grantville, PA/Lower Dauphin) and Mindy Nace (Thompsontown, PA/East Juniata) to its All-South Atlantic Region Second Team. It is the first time Espenshade has ever received the honor, while Nace previously made the All-Region team as a sophomore in 2000. Espenshade led Elizabethtown with 14 goals scored in 16 games played in 2002. She also tallied two assists for a team-leading total of 30 points. She started all 16 games for the Blue Jays this season, and she totaled 32 goals, 13 assists, and 77 points over the course of four seasons. She was named the Commonwealth Conference Player of the Week once in 2002. She was also chosen to represent Etown at the NFHCA North/South Senior All-Star game, which will take place Saturday, November 23 at 5:30 p.m. at Springfield College in Springfield, MA. Nace led Elizabethtown with eight assists, and she had five goals and 18 points in 2002. She also started all 16 of Etown's games this year. In her four year career, she compiled 21 goals, 17 assists, and 59 points. She was a second-team Commonwealth Conference all-star and a second-team All-Region honoree in 2000. She was also a member of the Middle Atlantic Conferences' All-Academic Team in 2000 and 2001. The Elizabethtown College field hockey team was nationally ranked for much of the 2002 season and wrapped up the campaign with a 10-6 overall record. The Blue Jays went 5-2 in the Commonwealth Conference during the regular season and reached the conference playoffs for the third consecutive year. |
