Three Elizabethtown College Field Hockey Players Named to NFHCA National Academic Squad

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Three Elizabethtown College field hockey players have been named to the National Field Hockey Coaches' Association (NFHCA) Division III National Academic Squad. They are senior forward Mindy Nace (Thompsontown, PA/East Juniata), junior forward Lauren Potosky (Wrightsville, PA/Eastern York) and sophomore defender and midfielder Traci Brenner (Conowingo, MD/Perryville).

A biology and pre-medicine major at Elizabethtown College, Nace was recently awarded the prestigious NCAA Post-Graduate Scholarship, and she was one of only 29 female fall sport athletes nationwide among all NCAA divisions to receive the scholarship.

Nace is also an Elizabethtown College Scholar, a designation for which a student must have completed sixty credit hours and have a cumulative grade point average of 3.75 or higher. She has also been a member of the NFHCA National Academic Squad once before, and she was a three-time member of the Middle Atlantic Conferences' Academic Honor Roll.

In her four-year career, Nace was twice named to the NFHCA All-South Atlantic Region Second Team, in 2000 and 2002, and she was also an All-Commonwealth Conference Second Team member in 2000 and 2002 as well. During that time, she tallied 21 goals, 17 assists and 59 points, and she led the team in assists with eight in 2002.

Potosky is majoring in international business with a minor in Spanish at Elizabethtown College. She has been a member of the Middle Atlantic Conferences' Academic Honor Roll each of the last two seasons, and she has earned a spot on the dean's list every semester of her collegiate career.

Potosky started in all 16 games, and she scored four goals and had two assists for 10 points in 2002. Over the course of her three-year career she has totaled nine goals and four assists for 22 points.

Brenner is majoring in social work with a minor in child psychology at Elizabethtown College. She was a member of the Middle Atlantic Conferences' Academic Honor roll in the fall of 2002, and she has been on the dean's list every semester of her collegiate career.

Brenner started in all 16 games for the Blue Jays in 2002, and she led the team in defensive saves with five. She also scored one goal in 2002, the only one of her career thus far for the sophomore defender.

The Elizabethtown College field hockey team finished the 2002 season with a 10-6 overall record. The team reached the Commonwealth Conference playoffs for the third straight year, and it spent most of the season ranked in the nation's top twenty in NCAA Division III.
