FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Etown's Adam Rebert Named Commonwealth Conference Baseball Pitcher of the Week ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Elizabethtown College sophomore Adam Rebert (Gettysburg, PA/Gettysburg) has been named the Commonwealth Conference baseball Pitcher of the Week for the week ending April 20. It is the third time this season a Blue Jay pitcher has earned the honor, and the first time for Rebert. Rebert started and completed the opening half of a doubleheader with Susquehanna April 15, and he allowed just three hits and three walks in seven innings. He gave up four runs, only two of them earned, while striking out eight to earn the victory, his first of the season, in the 7-4 win. Rebert has pitched 32 innings thus far this season and has allowed 41 hits, nine walks and 21 earned runs. He has struck out 22 batters in seven appearances and six starts on the mound. Thus far in 2003, he is also batting .382 in 12 games as a designated hitter, having gone 13-for-34 at the plate with five runs scored, six runs batted in, two doubles, and one triple. He has also drawn four walks and been hit by a pitch once. The Elizabethtown College baseball team is currently 16-9 overall with a 10-6 record in Commonwealth Conference play. The Blue Jays will next host Moravian in a conference doubleheader Wednesday, April 23 at 1:30 p.m. The date is the make-up of a rained out doubleheader from Friday. |
