ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Two members of the Elizabethtown College women's lacrosse team have been named to the 2003 All-Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) teams. Sophomore defender Sarah Scholl (Forest Hill, MD/John Carroll School) was named to the conference's first team, and sophomore attacker Liz Fretz (Parkerford, PA/Owen J. Roberts) was named to the All-MAC second team.
Scholl [right] started all 14 games for Elizabethtown this season and led the Blue Jays in caused turnovers with 40 and in ground balls with 43. She also had 31 draw controls for Etown, and she scored six goals and had six assists for 12 points in 2003. She is currently ranked 12th in the nation in caused turnovers per game. This year is the first time Scholl earned a spot on the All-MAC teams.
Fretz was a first team all-conference player last year, and this season she started all 14 of Etown's games. She led Etown in goals with 49 and points with 65, and she was second on the team in assists with 16. She also led Elizabethtown in draw controls with 73, and she is currently ranked second in the nation in draw controls per game. Fretz also became Elizabethtown's first 100 career goal scorer this season in just two years played. She now has 109 career goals.
The Elizabethtown College women's lacrosse team completed just its second season of competition in 2003 with a 5-9 overall record and a mark of 4-6 in the MAC.
