In 2002, his freshman year, he set an Etown program record for most doubles in a season with 21. His 31 career doubles through just two seasons already rank him third in the history of the program. This is the first year Luongo has earned all-conference honors. He also drove in 19 runs, stole seven bases, hit seven doubles and belted out two triples in 2003. He was on the All-Commonwealth Conference team as well last year, and he was the conference's Rookie of the Year in 2001. This is the first time he has been named the Commonwealth Conference Most Valuable Player. Rebert had a breakthrough campaign in 2003, batting .333 in 19 games as the Blue Jays' designated hitter, for which he was named to the all-conference team for the first time. He hit two triples, two doubles and one home run in 60 at bats. He drove in 11 runs and scored eight while posting a .483 slugging percentage and a .379 on base percentage. As a pitcher, Rebert made nine appearances and eight starts, pitching 43-1/3 innings and striking out 31 batters. He won one game and posted one save for Etown. Nocar was named to the all-conference team for the first time this year after emerging as the ace of the Blue Jays' pitching staff. In 10 appearances and seven starts, he posted a 6-2 record with one save and a 2.17 ERA. He pitched 49-2/3 innings and struck out 42 batters while allowing just 35 hits and 12 walks. As a right fielder this season, he batted .263 with 13 RBI and 11 runs scored, and he had an on base percentage of .394. Jones hit .336, fourth on the team, and led the Blue Jays with 19 stolen bases in his first season playing for Etown in 2003. He scored 27 runs, the second highest total on the team, hit two home runs, had one triple and drove in 20 runs. He had a .424 on base percentage and a .439 slugging percentage. Woehnker emerged as a freshman as the Blue Jays' primary relief pitcher in 2003, making a team high of 12 appearances, all of which came in relief. He held opponents to a .211 batting average in 23 innings of work and went 4-0 with two saves and a 4.70 ERA. The Elizabethtown College baseball team finished second in the Commonwealth Conference playoffs, closing out the season with a 21-14 overall record and a 12-9 mark in the conference. |
