Elizabethtown Junior Liz Fretz Named Middle Atlantic Conference Women's Lacrosse Player of the Week

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Elizabethtown College junior attacker Liz Fretz (Parkerford, PA/Owen J. Roberts) has been named the Middle Atlantic Conference women's lacrosse Player of the Week for the week ending March 14. It is the second time in her career Fretz has earned the honor, having been named the conference Player of the Week once in 2002 as well.

In Etown's first win of the season Saturday, an 11-8 MAC opener victory over FDU-Florham, Fretz led Etown in every offensive category, scoring four goals, tossing out two assists, totaling six points, scooping up three ground balls and winning five draw controls. In Etown's 14-7 road loss to McDaniel March 11, Fretz tied for the team lead in goals with three, and she grabbed two ground balls and three draw controls. For the week, Fretz totaled seven goals, two assists, nine points, five ground balls and eight draw controls as Etown went 1-1. She either scored or assisted half of the Blue Jays' goals last week.

In three games thus far this season, Fretz is leading the Blue Jays in scoring with seven goals. She also has two assists for a team-high of nine points, and she is leading the team in draw controls as well with 11. She also has five ground balls and one caused turnover.

Over the course of her career, she has scored 116 goals, totaled 26 assists and compiled 142 points. Both the Elizabethtown women's and men's lacrosse programs played their first season in 2002, and Fretz is thus far the only player on either team to have hit the 100 career goal plateau, having achieved the feat while only a sophomore.

The Elizabethtown College women's lacrosse team is currently 1-2 overall and 1-0 in the Middle Atlantic Conference. The Blue Jays play their next game, a non-conference contest, at home Thursday, March 18 at 4:00 p.m. against Montclair State University.
