Etown Junior Eric Wetzel Named Commonwealth Conference Baseball Player of the Week

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Elizabethtown College junior first baseman Eric Wetzel (Lewisburg, PA/Lewisburg) has been named the Commonwealth Conference baseball Player of the Week for the week ending April 4.
Wetzel batted .300 in three games last week. In a 6-5 Etown win in the tail end of a doubleheader against Widener Saturday, he hit three-for-three with a home run and two RBI as the Blue Jays snapped a three game losing streak.

Thus far this season, Wetzel is batting .317 (19-for-60) with one home run and seven runs scored. His 10 RBI in 2004 currently rank him third on the team. He currently has a .388 on base percentage and has yet to committ an error in the field in 130 chances.

The Elizabethtown College baseball team is currently 8-12 overall and 3-5 in the Commonwealth Conference. Elizabethtown plays its next game on the road today against Widener University in a 3:00 p.m. nine-inning Commonwealth Conference game.
