It is the first time this season that Duppstadt, a two-time all-conference player and the conference's Most Valuable Player in 2003, has received the Player of the Week award. Duppstadt tied the Elizabethtown career home run record last week as he knocked three out of the park over the course of the week to boost his season total to eight and his career home run total to 16. Over the course of five games last week, he batted .364, drove in 12 runs, scored seven runs, lashed out eight hits, one double and one triple, and he stole four bases. He had at least one hit in every game last week as Etown went 4-1 during that stretch. He drove in six runs in a single game in Etowns 16-6 win over Ursinus at the beginning of the week, a game in which he also batted three-for-six, scored two runs, hit a triple and a home run, and stole a base. Thus far this season, Duppstadt is batting .409 with 47 hits in 31 games played. He leads the team in batting average, hits, triples with four, home runs with eight, runs scored with 35, walks with 17, stolen bases with 11, and slugging percentage with .730. He also has five doubles and a .485 on base percentage thus far this year. Duppstadt owns the Elizabethtown career hit record, and his career hit total currently stands at 189. He also currently shares the Etown career home run record of 16 with Darrell Justh '89. He ranks in a tie for eighth place on Etown's career list in runs scored with 111, and he is in fifth place on Etown's career RBI list with 100. His eight career triples place him tenth all-time at Etown. He ranks second on Etown's career at-bat list with 525 and is eight shy of tying the record of 533 in that category, and he is in a tie for fifth all-time at Etown in games played with 145. Elizabethtown will return to action at home Tuesday, April 28 in a non-conference game against Gettysburg College set to begin at 3:30 p.m. |
