Five Elizabethtown College Women's Soccer Players Named to All-Commonwealth Conference Teams

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Five members of the 2003 Elizabethtown College women's soccer team have been named All-Commonwealth Conference players. Senior sweeper Megan Halladay (Wallingford, PA/Strath Haven) earned a spot on the All-Commonwealth first team, while senior forward Becca Young (Macungie, PA/Emmaus), senior midfielder Katierose Riegger (Jarrettsville, MD/Catholic-Baltimore), junior midfielder Courtney Phillips (Mechanicsburg, PA/Mechanicsburg), and first-year defender Dana Moyer (Harleysville, PA/North Penn) were all named to the All-Commonwealth second team.

This is the fourth year in a row Halladay has earned a spot on an All-Conference team, and the third year in a row she has been on the first team. Halladay is also a 2002 Verizon/CoSIDA Academic All-American and a two-time Verizon/CoSIDA Academic All-District II player. She was also an All-Mid-Atlantic Region team member in 2001. Over the course of four years in the backfield at Etown, Halladay compiled 11 goals and two assists for 24 career points.

2003 is the second year in a row Young earned a place on the All-Commonwealth Conference second team. She was the Blue Jays' leading goal scorer each of the last two seasons, and she led Etown with 11 goals and 28 points this year, and she was also second on the team in assists with six. Over the course of her career, Young compiled 27 goals and 22 assists for 76 career points.

Riegger makes her debut on the All-Commonwealth Conference second team as a senior this year. She totaled one goal and one assist for three points in 2003. Over the course of three years as a Blue Jay, she compiled seven goals and six assists for 20 career points while splitting time between midfield and defense.


Phillips has earned a place on one of the All-Commonwealth Conference teams for the third year in a row in 2003. She was a first team member in 2002 and a second team member as a first year in 2001. Phillips was also an All-Mid-Atlantic Region team member in 2002. She led Etown this year with seven assists, and she scored three goals for a total of 13 points in 2003. In three years, she has scored 15 goals and has 18 assists for 48 career points.

Moyer makes her debut on the All-Commonwealth Conference team as a first-year in 2003 after playing in all 18 Etown games and starting every game but one. She tallied one assist in the backfield in 2003.

The Elizabethtown College women's soccer team finished the 2003 season with a 10-6-2 overall record and a 3-4 mark in the Commonwealth Conference.
