Elizabethtown College Senior Emily Morris Named to All-Commonwealth Conference Volleyball First Team

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Elizabethtown College senior outside hitter Emily Morris (Canton, PA/Canton) has been named to the All-Commonwealth Conference volleyball first team. It is the second time in her career that Morris has earned all-conference recognition in volleyball, having also earned a spot on the second team as a first-year in 2000.

This season, Morris led Etown in digs with 519, the second highest single-season total in Etown history, and she was second on the team in kills with 294. She had a .245 hitting percentage, 26 service aces, 18 blocks, and five assists.

During the course of the 2003 season, she set a program record for most digs in a match with 44, and she broke the Elizabethtown record for most digs in a career. The old total was 1,440; Morris wrapped up her career with 1,895 digs. She also finished her career with 1,188 kills, the second-highest total in program history, and 171 service aces, the seventh-highest total in Etown history.

This year, Morris was named the Commonwealth Conference Player of the Week once, the Most Valuable Player of the Elizabethtown Blue Jay Classic tournament, and the Most Valuable Player of the Swarthmore Garnet Tide Classic tournament.

A two-sport standout at Etown, Morris is also a three-time all-conference shortstop for the Blue Jay softball team.

The Elizabethtown College volleyball team concluded the season with an 18-9 overall mark, its best since 1996.
