Elizabethtown Senior Megan Halladay Named to Verizon/CoSIDA Academic All-District II College Division Women's Soccer Team

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Elizabethtown College senior sweeper Megan Halladay (Wallingford, PA/Strath Haven) has been named to the Verizon/CoSIDA Academic All-District II College Division Women's Soccer Team for the third consecutive year. Halladay made the District II first team in 2002 and the second team in 2001. This year, she is a member of the District II first team again, meaning that she will advance to the ballot for the national College Division Academic All-America Team and have a chance to become Etown's first two-time Academic All-American since Gary Yeager of the baseball team achieved the feat in 1994 and 1995.

Halladay is majoring in business marketing at Elizabethtown College. This year, she had one goal and one assist from the backfield while starting and playing in 17 of Etown's 18 games. Over the course of her career, she totaled 11 goals and two assists for 24 points while starting at sweeper for four years.

In addition to making the Academic All-District II teams three times, Halladay was also a third team Academic All-American in 2002, an All-Mid-Atlantic Region honoree in 2001, a first team All-Commonwealth Conference player in 2001, 2002 and 2003, and a Middle Atlantic Conferences' Academic Honor Roll member in 2001 and 2002. As a first-year in 2000, she was a second team All-Commonwealth Conference player. She is a 2000 alumna of Strath Haven High School.

The Elizabethtown College women's soccer team completed the 2003 season with a 10-6-2 overall record and a 3-4 mark in the Commonwealth Conference.
The District II College Division in the Academic All-America program consists of all non-NCAA Division I colleges and universities in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware, West Virginia and the District of Columbia.

The members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) by districts select the Verizon Academic All-District Team, and the 11 first team selections in each district now move onto the national ballot for Verizon/CoSIDA Academic All-America honors.

To be nominated for the Verizon Academic All-America program, a student-athlete must be at leas a sophomore with a 3.2 or higher cumulative grade-point average and be a starter or significant reserve.
