Elizabethtown Senior Megan Halladay Named to Verizon/CoSIDA Academic All-America College Division Women's Soccer Team

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Elizabethtown College senior sweeper Megan Halladay (Wallingford, PA/Strath Haven) has been named to the CoSIDA Academic All-America College Division Women's Soccer Second Team, announced today by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). After making the third team last year, this is the second year in a row Halladay has been named an Academic All-American. She is the first Elizabethtown College student to earn the award twice since Gary Yeager of the baseball team achieved the feat in 1994 and 1995. It is also the third consecutive year that an Elizabethtown women's soccer player has been named an Academic All-American.

Halladay is majoring in business marketing at Elizabethtown College. This year, she had one goal and one assist from the backfield while starting and playing in 17 of Etown's 18 games. Over the course of her career, she totaled 11 goals and two assists for 24 points while starting at sweeper for four years.

In addition to being the College's first two-time Academic All-American in nearly a decade, Halladay is also a three-time CoSIDA Academic All-District II team member, an All-Mid-Atlantic Region honoree in 2001, a first team All-Commonwealth Conference player in 2001, 2002 and 2003, and a Middle Atlantic Conferences' Academic Honor Roll member in 2001 and 2002. As a first-year in 2000, she was a second team All-Commonwealth Conference player. She is a 2000 alumna of Strath Haven High School.

The Elizabethtown College women's soccer team completed the 2003 season with a 10-6-2 overall record and a 3-4 mark in the Commonwealth Conference.

To be eligible for the Academic All-America program, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 3.20 on a scale of 4.00, and have reached sophomore athletic and academic standing at his/her current institution. Since the program's inception in 1952, CoSIDA has bestowed Academic All-America honors on more than 14,000 student-athletes in Division I, II, III and NAIA covering all NCAA championship sports.
