FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Four Elizabethtown College Men's Lacrosse Players Named to All-MAC Teams ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. Four members of the Elizabethtown College men's lacrosse team have been named to the All-Middle Atlantic Conference teams for the 2005 season. Senior midfielder Justin Griffey (Aberdeen, MD/Aberdeen) was named to the All-MAC First Team, and senior attacker Allen Churchman (Aston, PA/Garnet Valley), sophomore midfielder Frankie Puzzangara (Wallingford, PA/Strath Haven) and senior defender Chris McCrea (Broomall, PA/Marple Newtown) were all named to the All-MAC Second Team. This is Griffey's second consecutive year on the All-MAC First Team. Thus far in 2005, he is leading Elizabethtown in goals scored with 27, and he is third on the team in points with 31. He has four assists, and four of his goals this season have been game-winners. Griffey has also tallied 51 ground balls this year. In his career, he has totaled 68 goals, 11 assists and 79 points. Churchman has made the All-MAC teams for the first time in his career this year. He currently leads Etown in assists with 25 and in points with 36, and he is tied for fifth on the team in goals scored with 11. He has 51 ground balls and two game-winning goals in 2005. Over the course of his career, Churchman has totaled 56 goals, 91 assists and 147 points. He also has 159 career ground balls. Puzzangara was also on the All-MAC Second Team as a first-year student in 2004. This year, he is third on the team in goals with 20, fourth on the team in assists with nine and fourth on the team in points with 29. He also has 34 ground balls and one game-winning goal. In two seasons, Puzzangara has totaled 42 goals, 18 assists, 60 points and 62 ground balls. This year marks McCrea's third time on the All-MAC teams. He was also named to the All-MAC First Team in 2003 and the Second Team in 2002 as a first-year student. McCrea currently leads Etown in ground balls with 82, and he has 255 ground balls in his career. He has also been a member of the MAC All-Academic Team in 2003 and 2004. The Elizabethtown College men's lacrosse team is currently 9-7 overall and will play its next game Thursday, May 5 at 4:30 p.m. on the road against Messiah College in the MAC semifinals. The Blue Jays, which are the fourth seed in the conference playoffs, defeated fifth-seeded FDU-Florham in the opening round Monday by a 6-5 score at home. |
