Etown Senior Drew Kelley Named Commonwealth Conference Baseball Pitcher of the Week

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Elizabethtown College senior pitcher Drew Kelley (York, PA/Dallastown) has been named the Commonwealth Conference Pitcher of the Week in baseball for the week ending March 13.

Kelley pitched a complete-game shutout against NCAA Division II Davis & Elkins University (WV) Thursday during the Blue Jays' annual spring break training trip to Ft. Pierce, Fla. Davis & Elkins entered the game with a 4-0 record, and Kelley held D&E to just two hits and one walk in seven innings pitched. He also struck out seven batters during that game to earn his first victory of the season.

During the previous week, on March 6, Kelley held Division II Clarion University to just two runs as the Blue Jays and Clarion fought to a 2-2 tie. In that game, Kelley spread seven hits over 6-2/3 innings of work.

Thus far this season, Kelley is 1-1 with a 1.02 ERA. He has held opposing hitters to a .172 batting average over 17-2/3 innings in three starts, and he has struck out 11.

The Elizabethtown College baseball team is currently 4-3-1 overall and will return to action Friday, March 18 at home against Susquehanna University in its first Commonwealth Conference game of the season. The nine-inning contest will begin at 3:00 p.m.
