FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Etown Senior Seth Guida Named Commonwealth Conference Baseball Player of the Week ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Elizabethtown College senior catcher Seth Guida (Reading, PA/Exeter) has been named the Commonwealth Conference Player of the Week in baseball for the week ending March 27. In four games last week, Guida hit .533 with four doubles, one home run, four runs scored and seven runs batted in. Against The College of New Jersey in a 10-5 loss March 22, Guida batted 1-for-4 with a double, a run and an RBI. Facing Juniata in an 8-2 win Friday, he hit 2-for-4 with a home run, two runs and four runs batted in. In a 12-0 win over Juniata Saturday, he hit 4-for-4 with two doubles, one run and three runs batted in. In a 4-1 loss to Juniata Saturday, he hit 1-for-3 with one double. Thus far this season, Guida has started all 15 of Etown's games and is batting .365. He leads the team in runs batted in with 16, home runs with three, triples with two, and doubles with five, and he is tied for the team lead in hits with 19, at-bats with 52, and in batting average. His slugging percentage of .712 leads the team as well, and he is second among the Blue Jays in runs scored with 12. Guida is a career .327 hitter for the Blue Jays over four seasons. Over the course of his career, he has driven in 93 runs to currently rank him ninth in career RBIs in the history of the Etown baseball program. He also ranks in a tie for seventh in career doubles with 29, and in a tie for ninth in career home runs with 12. The Elizabethtown College baseball team is currently 9-5-1 overall and 5-1 in the Commonwealth Conference. The team will return to action Friday, April 1 in a Commonwealth Conference nine-inning game at home against Widener University at 3:00 p.m. |
