ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Three members of the Elizabethtown College women’s tennis team have been named to the All-Commonwealth Conference teams for the fall 2005 season. They are junior Stacy Shapiro (Audubon, PA/Methacton), who made the All-Commonwealth Conference First Team, and sophomores Laurelyn Foderaro (Harleysville, PA/Christopher Dock Mennonite) and Emma Smith (Moorestown, NJ/Moorestown), who both landed spots on the All-Commonwealth Conference Second Team.

This is the third year in a row that Shapiro has been named to the all-conference first team, as she also earned spots on the team in 2003 and in 2004. She was also the conference Rookie of the Year in 2003, and she was one the Middle Atlantic States Collegiate Athletic Corporation (MASCAC) champions at number one doubles in 2004. Thus far this season, Shapiro has gone 9-4 in singles and 9-3 in doubles competition for an 18-7 overall record. She has gone 5-1 at number two singles and 2-2 at number one singles in dual matches this year, and in doubles she has gone 6-2 at number one and 2-0 at number two in dual matches in 2005. For her career, Shapiro currently has a 32-14 mark in singles and a 28-17 record in doubles for a 60-31 career combined record.

This is the second year in a row that Smith has been named to the all-conference second team, having also received the honor in 2004. Thus far in 2005, she has a 4-8 record in singles and a 7-6 mark in doubles. In dual matches this season, she has a 2-4 record at number one singles, a 1-1 mark at number two singles, and a 1-1 mark at number three singles. This is Foderaro’s first time on the All-Commonwealth Conference Second Team, as well as her first season playing as a Blue Jay, after transferring to Elizabethtown from Eastern Mennonite University, where she was the Old Dominion Athletic Conference’s Rookie of the Year in the spring 2005 season. Thus far this season, she has gone 8-3 in singles competition and 8-3 in doubles for a 16-6 combined record. In dual matches for Etown, she has gone 2-0 at number two singles, 6-1 at number three singes, and 7-2 at number one doubles.
