Elizabethtown College to Induct Boyertown Native Lorrie Fisher into Athletic Hall of Fame

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Elizabethtown College will induct Boyertown, Pa. native and Boyertown High School alumna Lorrie R. Fisher '80, along with four other individuals, into its Ira R. Herr Athletic Hall of Fame this weekend.

The five will be honored at halftime during the 4:30 p.m. men's soccer game against Widener University Saturday, October 15, and they will be formally inducted in a luncheon ceremony Sunday, October 16.

After more than a quarter century, Fisher, a 1976 graduate of Boyertown High School, remains one of the most prolific scorers in the history of the Elizabethtown College field hockey program. Her career total of 53 goals ranks sixth all-time at Etown, and her career total of 115 points ranks seventh all-time at Elizabethtown.

During her time as a Blue Jay, the field hockey team went 37-20-7, won one Middle Atlantic Conference championship, won one Penn-Mar Conference championship, and advanced to the AIAW tournament twice. Fisher was named a Middle Atlantic Conference All-Star twice in her career in 1978 and in 1979.

Fisher is currently a manufacturing supervisor for Pfizer Pharmaceuticals. From 1990 to 2003, she won 13 consecutive titles as the club women’s golf champion at the Brookside Country Club in Pottstown, Pa.

Fisher said about her upcoming induction, “I am honored to be inducted into the Ira R. Herr Hall of Fame. Field hockey was the most enjoyable part of my college days. The teamwork I enjoyed in college has carried through in all aspects of my life.”
