Five Members of Elizabethtown College Men’s Soccer Team on All-Commonwealth Conference Teams

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Five members of the Elizabethtown College men’s soccer team have been named All-Commonwealth Conference honorees, with four members making the all-conference first team and one making the second team.

The Etown players on the All-Commonwealth Conference First Team include senior forward Brian Healy (Newark, DE/A.I. DuPont), senior midfielder Andrew Kummerer (Glenmoore, PA/Coatesville), senior defender Jeff Boushell (Chambersburg, PA/Chambersburg) and senior defender Daniel Gring (Sinking Spring, PA/Wilson). Making the All-Commonwealth Conference Second Team for Etown is sophomore midfielder Michael Terry (Beech Creek, PA/Central Mountain).

Healy is making his third appearance on the All-Commonwealth Conference First Team this year, having also received the honor in 2004 and 2003. He also earned a spot on the NSCAA All-Mid-Atlantic Region First Team in 2004. Thus far in 2005, he is Etown’s leading scorer with eight goals and 20 points, and he is tied for second on the team in assists with four. He is one of just two Blue Jays to have started all 18 games this year. In his career, he has 30 goals and 26 assists for a total of 86 points.

Kummerer shook off early-season injuries and the resultant missing of five games to once again emerge as one of Etown’s key offensive players in 2005. In 13 games played this year, he ranks in a tie for third on the team in goals scored with three, in a tie for second on the team in assists with four, and third on the team in points with 10. In his career, he has scored 18 goals, has totaled 22 assists and has 58 points. He has appeared on the All-Commonwealth Conference First Team every season of his collegiate career, having also earned the honor in 2004, 2003 and 2002, and he was the conference’s Rookie of the Year in 2002 and an All-Mideast Region Second Team member in 2004.

This is Boushell’s first time on the all-conference teams, as he has emerged as one of Etown’s top defenders, as well as a key offensive playmaker from the backfield. He is tied for second on the team in assists this year with four despite playing on defense. In his three-year career with Etown, the senior has totaled one goal and five assists for seven points.

Gring has earned a spot on the all-conference teams for the second year in a row in 2005, although this is his first time on the first team, as he was a second team honoree in 2004. The senior defender is one of just two Blue Jays to have started in all 18 of Etown’s games this year. In fact, he has started all 40 games the Blue Jays have played in his two years with the team, and he is the only current Etown player to have done so. In two seasons, he has tallied one goal, four assists and six points from the backfield.

Terry makes his first appearance on the all-conference teams this year. The sophomore has played in all 18 and has started 17 of Etown’s games in 2005, and he is tied for third on the team in goals scored with three and tied for fourth in points with eight. He also has two assists and two game-winning goals this year. In his career, he has four goals and four assists for 12 points over two seasons.

The Elizabethtown College men’s soccer team is currently 13-3-2 overall. The Blue Jays, which have the second seed in the Commonwealth Conference playoffs, are hosting third-seed Susquehanna University tonight at 7:00 p.m. in the conference semifinals.
