Elizabethtown College Junior Mike Donahue Named Commonwealth Conference Baseball Player of the Week

Mike Donahue '07.ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Elizabethtown College junior center fielder Mike Donahue (Hatfield, PA/Lansdale Catholic) has been named the Commonwealth Conference baseball Player of the Week for the Week ending April 30. It is the first time in his career that he has received the honor.

Donahue hit .524 (11-for-21) with a .565 on-base percentage, an .810 slugging percentage, six runs, 11 RBI, a double, a triple, a home run and four stolen bases last week as the Blue Jays went 4-1 and clinched a conference playoff berth for the eighth year in a row.

He hit 2-for-4 with a double as Etown fell 6-2 to Widener Tuesday and batted 2-for-6 with a home run, four RBI and a run scored as the Blue Jays beat Widener 11-10 Tuesday. In Etown’s 13-8 win over Moravian Friday, he hit 2-for-5 with two runs and two RBI. In the Blue Jay’s 7-0 win over Moravian Saturday, he hit 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI and two steals, and he batted 3-for-3 with a triple, a run, three RBI and two steals in Etown’s 4-3 win over Moravian Saturday.

Thus far in 2006, Donahue is batting .330 (38-for-115) and is leading the team in runs batted in with 26, in stolen bases with 18 and in sacrifice bunts with eight. He also has 26 runs scored, eight walks, two doubles, three triples and one home run. He has played in and started 31 of Elizabethtown’s 35 games.

Elizabethtown will return to action against Widener University at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, May 4 in a Commonwealth Conference playoff game at Owls Field in West Lawn, Pa.
