Elizabethtown’s Frankie Puzzangara, Frank Cacia and Gary Senese Named to All-Middle Atlantic Conference Men’s Lacrosse Teams; Puzzangara Named MAC Player of the Year

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Three Elizabethtown College men’s lacrosse players have been named to the All-Middle Atlantic Conference teams for the 2006 season. Junior midfielder Frankie Puzzangara (Wallingford, PA/Strath Haven) and junior defender Frank Cacia (Newark, DE/Tatnall School) have earned spots on the All-MAC First Team, while sophomore long-stick midfielder Gary Senese (West Chester, PA/Tatnall School, DE) has earned a place on the All-MAC Second Team. Furthermore, Puzzangara has been named the MAC Player of the Year.

Frankie Puzzangara '07.2006 marks Puzzangara’s first time on the All-MAC First Team and his first time as the conference’s Player of the Year. He also earned All-MAC Second Team honors as a sophomore in 2005 and as a first-year student in 2004. Puzzangara has enjoyed a record-breaking campaign in 2006, as he has set Elizabethtown program records for most goals in a season (45), most ground balls in a season (120), most shots in a season (229) and for most face-offs won in a season (143). He also has seven assists this year for a total of 52 points, and he has won 143 out of 228 face-offs for a .627 face-off winning percentage. He currently ranks second all-time at Elizabethtown in most career goals scored (87), fifth in most career assists (27), fourth in most career points (114), third in most career ground balls (191) and second in most career face-offs won (150). He also owns the Elizabethtown career record for most shots (373).

Frank Cacia '07.This is Cacia’s second time on an All-MAC team and his first time on the All-MAC First Team. He made the All-MAC Second Team as a first-year student in 2004. The junior defender has racked up 55 ground balls, the third-highest total on the team, and has one assist from the backfield while starting all 16 of Etown’s games thus far in 2006. In his career, he has 131 ground balls, ranking fifth all-time at Elizabethtown, and two assists. He has played in all 48 of Elizabethtown’s games in the last three seasons and has started all but eight of them.

Gary Senese '08.Senese has earned a spot on the All-MAC teams for the first time in his career this season. He has played in all 16 of Elizabethtown’s games in 2006, starting one of them, and has 44 ground balls, the fourth-highest total on the team, four goals and two assists for six points from the backfield. In his career, he has 105 ground balls, five goals, three assists and eight points in two seasons. He played in all 17 of Elizabethtown’s games as a first-year student in 2005.

The Elizabethtown College men’s lacrosse team is currently 7-9 overall and will return to action on the road against Widener University in the semifinals of the Middle Atlantic Conference playoffs at 5:00 p.m. Thursday, May 4. Etown, which has won its last five games in a row, most recently defeated Susquehanna University 13-4 at home Monday in the quarterfinals of the MAC playoffs.
