Elizabethtown’s Danielle Grooms and Katie Foley Named to All-Middle Atlantic Conference Teams in Women’s Lacrosse

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Two members of the Elizabethtown College women’s lacrosse team have been named to the All-Middle Atlantic Conference Second Team. They are senior midfielder Danielle Grooms (Frederick, MD/Gov. Thomas Johnson) and first-year attacker Katie Foley (Palmyra, NJ/Holy Cross). It is the first time either has earned all-conference recognition.

Danielle Grooms '06.Grooms currently leads the Blue Jays in draw controls with 23, and she is third on the team in scoring with 26 goals, seven assists and 33 points. She is also third on the team in caused turnovers with 11, and she has 21 ground balls in 2006. Grooms currently ranks fourth all-time at Elizabethtown in most career goals (53), eighth in most career assists (17), fourth in most career points (70), fourth in most career ground balls (80), fourth in most career draw controls (54) and ninth in most career caused turnovers (27).

Katie Foley '09.Foley leads Elizabethtown in goals scored with 39, and she is second on the team in assists with 14 and in points with 53. She also leads the Blue Jays in ground balls with 36, and she is second on the team in draw controls with 21 and second on the team in caused turnovers with 14. Her current goal tally is the fourth-highest single season total recorded at Elizabethtown.

The Elizabethtown College women’s lacrosse team is currently 6-10 overall and is competing in the MAC playoffs for the first time in the five-year history of the program. The Blue Jays are playing Lycoming College on the road today in the MAC quarterfinals at 4:00 p.m.
